Several Houston area Delta Gammas, Guests and Service Dog, Barbara Ann enjoyed the “State of the Foundation” Champagne Reception hosted by founder Joan Lyons. The founders of the foundation, Joan Lyons, Sara White and Sidney McKenzie were toasted for their foresight to bravely organize the foundation over 40 years ago in an effort to “Do Good” in the name of Delta Gamma to support the needs of the Blind and Visually Impaired in the greater Houston area. Several Grantees were present and shared with those attending how the funds provided by the foundation supported their mission to aid the blind and visually impaired. Those speaking included Carol Benson from Southeastern Guide Dogs, Shelagh Moran from the Lighthouse of Houston, Ellen Efsic from Eye Care for Kids, Blake Boudreaux from Beep Baseball, Sue McRaney from the Cizik Eye Center and Dr. Pat Segu from the UH Good Neighbor Clinic. Linda Dussair shared stories about student trips provided for visually impaired children and the annual event of provided parents with visually impaired children a night out at a Dynamo Game. Catering was provided by Rosemary’s Catering and staff hosting was provided by Debbie Dauterive.
